In other news, after a fifteen minute rant today about why I have to be a feminist to survive in IT, a male coworker and I go in to take care of a service call from the auditors. They can’t remember their password. After a few minutes, I login as the administrator and realize there is no password for that account. I explain this to them, and the oldest auditor, a white man in his fifties, smiles affably at me and says “Thanks, honey!”.
My male coworker tactfully waited until we were in the hallway before collapsing in laughter. And though I badly wanted to, I did not kick him in the shins while I had the advantage.
