I just about cried myself silly when I read about Aurora, the four year old octopus who defended her eggs from the draining of her tank by unobservant aquarium workers who believed the eggs to be sterile. She continued to spray water over her eggs and cleanse them even when they were above the waterline and starting to dry out. Finally a worker noticed eyes developing inside the eggs, and they refilled the tank.
Today, Aurora’s babies began to hatch.
