homeless monarchs

September 18, 2003

Reading being_homeless’ journal last night has given my brain some things to chew on.

My kitty is chewing clear contact paper right now. He also likes to lick baseballs.

We are right in the path of the monarch migration, and so two days ago the air was just filled with monarch butterflies. It was a technicolor day, perfect blue sky, greenest of grass, and soft sibilance of flapping wings whirling around.

I had caught my first glimpse of the monarchs at the baseball game two weeks ago – they were flying onto the field, making me tense for their survival. No butterflies were harmed in that game, however.

I’m up a little early to go glue baseboards at the cafe. After that, I leave it to the wind.
