The recruiter people were moving kind of quickly yesterday, and I told J. “I have to be up early, because they will call me before nine.” That’s what recruiters do. They call you between eight thirty-four and eight thirty-six am, to ask you questions like “How much Java experience do you have?” (I’ll never tell) or “What kind of salary do you want?” which are all perfectly fine questions but could have been asked the day previously during the 2pm phone call.

Anyway, I totally called it, and was awake at eight thirty-five when the phone rang one minute later, so I sounded fresh and alert. I wasn’t, really, and the conversation confused me a bit, but the upshot was that I had to spend the next three hours pulling some screenshots out of my ass and putting them online. Which I did, even in the face of you-didn’t-get-enough-sleep-and-then-didn’t-eat-on-top-of-it acute nausea. A nice, unidentifiable microwave dinner gave me that pleasant feeling of post-hunger lethargy I call “food coma” and I crashed out on the couch with a quilt and a Harry Potter movie for three hours, only answering the phone once to get the news that a friend has mono.

How does one get mono? Do I have mono? Is that why I’m sleeping at three o’clock in the afternoon?

Anyway, I thought the best way to get my ass off the couch was to hie myself to the salon I’ve been muttering about going to for a year and chop off my split ends. I said “I want it MESSY and CHUNKY and I DON’T WANT TO HAVE TO STYLE IT IN THE MORNING.” I conceded that I might be willing to put a tiny bit of gel or mousse in it, but drew the line at blowdrying, and ended up with something that is a little bit 1996-Aniston style, but is acceptable when I part it differently and then muss it with my fingers. Pictures are coming when I get batteries for the digicam.

Did I use any periods in this post at all? Oy.

Thank you guys for your support in my last post. I really needed it, and can’t tell you how much I appreciate it.
